Centre For Microbial Chemical Biology
The Centre for Microbial Chemical Biology (CMCB) houses state-of-the-art infrastructure to support research at the interface of the disciplines of chemistry and biology. The CMCB is located in two 12,000 square foot multi-user labs on the 2nd floor of MDCL and is professionally managed by seven full-time staff. The CMCB was formally opened in May 2009 to serve McMaster, Ontario, national and international researchers. Systems are available for use by internal, external, and external-academic researchers on a user cost basis.
Biophotonics and Imaging Facility
The McMaster Biophotonics Facility is an integrated facility used to study the molecular machines that regulate complex cellular functions such as differentiation, division, programmed death, migration, and adhesion that have proven difficult to study quantitatively in mammals. This is an international imaging facility dedicated to live cell analysis with a large variety of expert systems and techniques. The goal of the facility is to convert cutting-edge optical physics into mainstream biological applications.
McMaster Biointerfaces Institute
The Biointerfaces Institute at McMaster University is a state-of-the-art facility designed to use high-throughput methods to provide a new understanding the nature of the biological/material interface, or biointerface. The Institute’s goal is to understand how biological systems respond to the introduction of synthetic materials, and conversely, how an engineered interface responds to or is compatible with, a biological system. The Institute facilities are available for use by academic, industrial, and government users.
