M.Sc.

M.Sc. Program

  • Please refer to the “M.Sc. roadmap” to find out about the M.Sc pathway

  • Focus is on original research

  • Six units of graduate course credit

  • CHBY700 (Topics in Chem Biol) as an obligatory core course worth three units and split into two modules 700A and 700B typically offered in the Fall and Winter terms, respectively.

  • Colloquium course as part of either CHBY 701 (no course credit) or CHBY 702 (three units of course credit)

  • Other courses from any of the participating departments with permission

  • Thesis embodying original research

  • Thesis defended in an oral examination

Transfer to Ph.D. program

Students who have satisfactorily completed the course requirements for the M.Sc. degree and have made satisfactory progress in their research may apply to the Program for transfer to Ph.D. studies, without first satisfying all the M.Sc. thesis requirement. This is normally done by submission of a report detailing the student’s research progress, projected research goals, and successful completion of an oral examination.
